The schedule for the two meetings going to be held for city council has been announced by the president, Michael Fenton, of city council. The meetings are scheduled for the 17th February and 22nd February in City Hall. The plan for the casino site wished-for by MGM Springfield is likely to be discussed by the officials in this meeting.

Michael Fenton also mentioned that the detailed assessment should not delay or harm the proposal in any way, he has also been keeping in contact with the MGM representatives. While the knock down of the old casino building already started MGM has already been given approvals needed enabling them to complete the project within the set deadlines and the new casino should be able to host the first visitor by year 2018.

mgm-springfieldThe local residents were given a chance to discuss the design changes and the $950 million MGN Springfield casino plan during the meetings held previously. There were 4 meetings held January 2016 for the same which lasted around 90 minutes each. Although the January meetings were sorter the upcoming meetings the one going to be held in February 2016 will be longer as it is about the time for the officials to make a final standpoint for this plan.

Mr. Fenton mentioned that the MGM casino is one of the biggest project for Springfield city so far and it required to take in to consideration many details thoroughly. Due to the significance of the project the officials were required to work with appropriate tactic for every minor issues.

Mr. Fenton replied to the question “why only two meetings were scheduled”, looking at the convenience for all the councils and to make sure they all are available. The meetings are planned to carry on as long as needed or until the councils made up mind to adjourn.

Property owners in the nearby space to the future casino highlighted many concerns they had over the traffic, lighting, environmental related and parking issues. They demanded for adequate solutions to the issues which will be caused by the construction. Mr. Fenton assured that the city council will cover all the significant issues related construction in these two meeting scheduled for February.
